You Shall Go to The Ball, CinderEmma!

I'm so sorry I haven't been on this blog in centuries. I've just been busy with so much stuff. But school will be winding down this week (hopefully) I'm going on a school trip to Alton Towers and Blackpool this week. I'm very excited! Then the next week I'm going to Edinburgh Zoo then that week I'm going to my drama classes for 2 weeks and then a week of a week back on and week off the a week back on the a week off then it's the end of fests party. I know I'm a busy girl! Plus I set myself a target to read 10 books over the summer. Phew! I will be very busy but I will try my best to blog as much as I can!

Anyways you are probably confused to the title of this video but I have reason as I said I go to drama classes and it was our end-of-year summer party. It is quite confusing because during the summer we have no classes only fests. Anyway, this year's theme for the ball was Masquerade. So we all had pulled out all the stops and dressed up beautifully and carefully picked out our masks for the occasion. Can't post alot cause my friends were in them without their masks and that's a big privacy issue!

Hope you like the pics,
CinderEmma! xx

best of London Graduate Fashion Week

Graduate Fashion Week is often a breath of fresh air as the designers know no barriers and are bursting full of new ideas rather than tired ones used by mature designers. London College of Fashion got to front of the line and had their show before the rest even start tomorrow.  There were a few WOW! outfits. There was also an interesting twist when some designers opted for older models rather than fresh-faced ones.

By visiting the London College of Fashion website you can see all of the students portfolios. It's really good fun to learn about their inspiration and even see some clothes and patterns.

Ki Ching Cheung and Ka Wai Lo

These two designers have teamed up and created a 12-look collection inspired by Climate Change, Eskimo Clothing and a Polar Bear Hybrid.
I know WOW! The whole Polar Bear Hybrid means that because of melting ice caps the polar bears are losing the North Pole and their instinct is telling them to survive so the mate with other creatures and therefore create new creatures.
Make sense now? Kinda.
There is no fur at all in this collection and is mostly made up of animal shapes and knitwear. It is made of wool and wool jersey to mimic the warm feelings of fur.
So I bet by now you are dying to see what this looks like so I won't make you wait any longer, Here you go!

I really like this collection and the message is very affective. I adore the shapes of the garments and like the mix of the dark and light. Though I must admit without reading the back story I would have been confused. I think most of the layers could be worn in winter and some dresses could be converted into more wearable styles.

Karishma Shahani

This collection was inspired by the cultural diversity of India. India seems to be an constantly streaming influence and inspiration for their designs.

Jama and Kathak

Lamba and Sada

Shakti and Yatra

I love the layers, colourful splashes and little details such as the tassels because they add so much to the overall design. I would totally wear the bags (if they weren't rolled up fabric). The bagginess and floatiness with the tye-dye affect really add to the collection. I really love it.

Lots more coming from Graduate Fashion Week.
Thank you and good night.

Taylor Momsen in UK promoting band The Pretty Reckless

Taylor Momsen has made a trip over the Atlantic this week. She was here promoting her band 'The Pretty Reckless' (instead of the show that made her famous, Gossip Girl) but she has drawn the wrong kind of attention got some very bad press.

She seems to be walking around in stockings all week and short baby doll dresses with raccoon eyes and long platinum blonde straggly hair. Some people say it is inappropriate for a 16 year-old to dress this way.

She also provoked the so-called 'Taylor-haters' (which are groups of people that hate her guts) by swearing on This Morning, a daytime show watched by millions.

Some people have also criticized her saying she's too skinny. She claims he's naturally slim and tall and said it was just "good genes".

On This Morning with a very, very short skirt!

Arriving for an interview at BBC Radio 1 in ripped stockings.

Rocking out with her band, The Pretty Reckless in same ripped stockings.

Carey Mulligan posed with Shia LaBeouf and other co-stars at a photocall for her new movie, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps at Cannes Film Festival.  She rocks this wrap round dress and looks great. I love her shoes and the wrap round belt.
