Friday News Blast

Okay, I have a Friday treat for you all a quick News Blast! So I think that this is a good idea to highlight the stories that don't get the coverage they deserve maybe I will make it a regular feature.

Yves Saint Laurent's House up for Sale
Fancy having a look around arguably one the most influental designers ever to walk the face of the earth (don't know if there is fashion on mars)?

Yep me too!

But now there is a chance that the house of Yves Saint Laurent may be coming on to the market. How exciting! But I wouldn't hold your breath because
1. It may not even come on the market.
2. If it does it will cost a bomb.

Gievenchy Launch Autumn New Ad Campaign

Controversially, Givenchy designer Ricardo Tisci has decided to use a transexual model. His name is Lea T or previously known as Leo. Some say it looks to edgy and abstract but I disagree and think the prints work well together and look great. I think that it is a good idea because it is including more minorities in the fashion world. Usually the fashion world exempts anyone who does not conform to the White and Skinny standard issue. Though plus sizes and darker skinned models are coming into focus and some designers have refused to work with any models that are not plus size. So the future is bright...

Vanessa Paradis Joins Campaign for Chanel Cocoon
The supermodel joins the famous faces such as Lily Allen who modelled for the brand last year. I will show you the comparisions. Karl Laigerfield has claimed that his muse Vanessa was great to work with.

"She is the most divine person to work with and to be with."

Pixie Lott Designs for Lipsy

Ever since Pixie Lott arrived on the pop scene with Mama Do she has been causing a bit of a stir on the fashion scene with her quirky festival look and bedhead hair she's been a hit with the Brits and won them over with her fashion and music.
But now she has stepped up a gear, she now has teamed up with Lipsy and the result has been well quite spectactular.

Here are the promo pics:

Thank you for reading. Now I'm off to bed to go and snuggle in with a copy of InStyle June. Leona Lewis is the covergirl. May blog about it tomorrow. That reminds me that there will be full coverage of The Costume Institute Gala 2010. I will be working on it all day! I've already got my pics so that's a start at least. I know I am a bit late since it was on Monday but still I think that it's a great event so I want to cover it. I even heard a comparsion that it was the 'Fashion Oscars' on Marie-Claire's site.
  Thanks again,
Emma xx

Watch this Space! Gossip Girl Fashion Craze!

Is it just me or has Gossip Girl changed the whole fashion world?

As Miss Selfridges' gets set to launch their new Gossip Girl collection and Taylor Momsen puts pen to paper and signs a deal with New Look for the 'Taylor Loves' collection.  And recently designer Matthew Williamson got in on the act and let them fil part of the show in his shop and it featured one of his dresses. He also put the promotional tagline 'What did Chuck do?' in his front shop display. Not to mention the hairband craze Blair Waldorf started. I myself am a huge fan of the show. In the UK, it is on ITV2 on a Wednesday at 8pm. In the States, it is on the Monday and time zones vary.

The quirky style of Mathattan's elite has struck a chord with the young people across the globe.

To see the New Look collection go to:

The Miss Selfridge's collection focuses more on the characters with 2 dresses designed around the 4 lead female characters, Blair Wal, Serena, Jenny and Vanessa. I think you can tell which character suits each dress by their personaility.
Blair - Chic, Consertative
Vanessa- Wild, Tribal
Serena - Laidback, Effortless
Jenny - Rocker, Sophisticated
A little birdie also tells me Chace Crawford, who plays Nate Archibald turned up at the event to help the promotion. I even have photographic proof. Scroll down to see for yourself.

Visit to see full-length high quality photos of the dresses.

The Many Hairbands of Blair Waldorf.

The shop display in Mathew Williamson's New York store.

The two logos of fashion institutions combine to one. Yay! Twice the happy fashion!

If you were lucky enough to recieve an invitation to Gossip Girl Miss Selfridges Launch (mine must have been lost in the mail) you would see that it was stated that a 'special guest' would be appearing. This happened to be Gossip Girl star, Chace Crawford. He looked at home with the Miss Selfridges buying team.

Look at the gorgeous giftbags. I just wonder what GG goodies are inside? Oh!

These dresses scream WALDORF!WALDORF!WALDORF!

I'm so upset I can't find any full-length pictures of this Maxi dress. You will have to go on to Fabsugar (the link above) to see the dress in all its glory.

A reflection of Jenny's Rocker Chic look. Grey + Lace = Hot!
I'm not sure If I'm sold on the black one yet.

These dresses would defo fit in with Serena's em.. eh... let's say revealing wardrobe with the low necklines and short hemlines. Well, as Serena heself may say, if you've got it flaunt it.

Emma Watson Designs for People Tree

Press Coverage of Emma's Designs

i heart this little jumper

and this dress

i think it is really great that a celeb in the public eye is getting involved in something they believe in.i think it is so inspiring that Emma has made this collection and a real eye- opener that even though we all love fashion it is not very good for people who have to make our latest fashion. so all of the fabric in this collection is fairtrade. so that rules out the middle man so that they people who sell it reap the reward and we get fabulous fashion. win win for everyone
